Our first time in was a surprise - we didn't know it was happy hour till we received our bill! We had a sample of all the beers - FREE - and picked the one's we wanted. My husband (from Portland, OR) loves Widmere's Hef, so he tried their Hef and thought it was pretty good and I had the Blonde Bock and really enjoyed it. The food is great especially my favorite, the garlic fries!

Dan Gordon and Dean Biersch's original brewery/restaurant. Had the pleasure over the last few years to make it to all of their offspring except for New Orleans and Memphis. Consistency is the key. Good beer, food, service and locations. Wish they would put out a few more specialty beers but their Marzen is always top notch and the Blonde Bock is starting to grow on me. The patrons seem a bit cliquey but with Stanford U. in the backyard, what can you expect?!

Not what it used to be! In fact, a far cry from the early years when Palo Alto was the ONLY G/B.

All the beers essentially tasted the same. There wasn't much character or body in the four I tasted. Also, there seemed to be a bit of "chemical" taste to the beer. The food was OK, good garlic fries! Service needs work, we had to ask for menus and go to the bar for our beers.

This place is often crowded with tony tech-yuppies, but service is timely. Great food, but the beer selection is pretty slim.
